Gilbert L. Labine

Gilbert Labine was called to the Ontario bar in 1977 and practices in the areas of criminal litigation, and environmental and other regulatory litigation. He is certified by the Law Society of Upper Canada as a specialist in criminal litigation. Gil holds a B.A. and LL.B. from Queen’s University. He is a member (and was President) of the Thunder Bay Law Association, the Thunder Bay Legal Aid Area Committee, the Domestic Violence Advisory Committee, and the Youth Justice Steering Committee. He has also been a Director of the Criminal Lawyers Association and the Ontario Bar Association (Criminal Justice Section), and is a member of the Advocates Society. He sat on the Board of Governors for Lakehead University, and was Vice-Chair for the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. He is currently chair of the North West L.H.I.N. board of directors. He was a Director and Chair of William Creighton Youth Services. Gil has also been an active speaker and panelist for a variety of continuing legal education programs, and is an adjunct lecturer at the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law. In 2020, he was awarded the Law Society of Ontario Medal, for outstanding service in accordance with the highest ideals of the legal profession.
